You may have read the announcement in the paper that Houston based Linbeck Group has agreed to build the proposed Ashby High-Rise project and The Hunt Companies of El Paso will be investing in and helping develop the project (see full article here).  Let us assure you that the Task Force is continuing work on a variety of fronts to stop this ill-placed project!

It is bizarre and disappointing that one of our own residents would elect to participate; however, the Buckheads’ announcement provides useful clarity as to whom we are fighting. The developers do not yet even have an approved site plan, and they have not submitted any construction permit application. We are as committed as ever to fighting this project, and we will continue to keep you updated with the details of our opposition plans.

Meanwhile, to support several initiatives we are working on, it is important that we get more signatures on our on-line petition.  Please encourage your friends and neighbors to sign, even if they do not live in the neighborhood.  As the Mayor, her predecessor, Council Member Cohen and you have recognized, this is the wrong project in the wrong place.  Houstonians everywhere can sign on to show their support for protecting our neighborhoods.
